"I don't know, maybe. More like, desks and vases probably don't get hurt, " Kojima said."Even when they're broken"
"People are different, though" she said "Sometimes you can't see the scars."But there's a lot of pain, I think"
-------------
TW: *Bullying/Abused*
This book has painfully detailed description about bullying in school by nameless protagonist. It depicts his invisible pain (at first) and how he makes friends with Kojima, the other girl who was bullied by a classmate as well. It all started from a letter from Kojima.
'We should be friend'
Thoughts:
The opening was good and hold my attention enough. But Honestly, I like the first half more than the second half. I found that the second half didn't go the way I hoped to see. Some details are still on the surface level for me.
While the bullying scene's description is rather intense. I feel along with him.
I personally found that the ending was slightly disappointing. But good thing is...I like some conversation between Kojima and the narrator. It was interesting. How they wondered 'why they are victims?' / 'how pain of human different from scratched objects'. Sometimes,We feel pain but pain doesn't show outside our body.
However, I still hope to read Mieko Kawakami's other work in the future.
