The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

5.0

I just picked this book randomly sitting on my shelf, also I had an audiobook for this so yes, I read and listened (engaged more senses to make the story come out to me and it did) I went into this book after reading this book's description.

The description (in my words)- a famous painter and photographer are married seven years and they are totally in love with each other. They have an ideal relationship and the husband, Gabriel is madly devoted to his wife Alicia. But one day, out of nowhere, Alicia who thinks the world of Gabriel, she loves him the most in this entire world is found in a room with Gabriel dead, 5 bullets into his face and the gun had the fingerprints of his wife, Alicia. (She obviously killed him) She, after this incident is just silent, she doesn't say anything, react, just dead silence. Many have tried to make her speak but only to fail. Now, Theo, a psychotherapist comes into the picture who is intrigued by Alicia and is determined to find out what could have possibly gone wrong, why such a cold bloodied act if they were so much in love and to end her silence, help her to speak.

If one says more about the description they would really spoil it, just read it and find what's wrong with the description. And well, wait for the plot twist to make you go "What? WAIT WHAT?? DID I READ IT RIGHT?" Mind = Blown. You will be forced to recall the whole story by the end of the book to puzzle the pieces together. (If you didn't predict the same end as the book, if you did, then you might be bored. I couldn't predict so I loved it)

I can see the problem readers have with relating to the the male narrator, Theo's character. I mean I'd be lying if I say I didn't judge him throughout the story. But just remember he is a human. So. We often find ourselves in weird and odd situations. Some may say he deserved it (me, me!) But ya.

The book is written from two perspectives, the psychotherapist's (Theo) and through Alicia's journal. Audiobook would be great to listen to and get into the feels as it has both male and female narrators. The fear of Alicia is what gripped me and gave me goosebumps. It did its job, it did thrill me in a dark and nerve-racking way.

It was full of mystery from the start till end, I had to, HAD TO binge read it!
