Little Thieves felt like such a solid standalone that I wasn't sure what I would expect from this sequel (other than I was happy I didn't have to wait for it and that I would for sure get more Vanja - In my house we support women's wrongs). This sequel lived up to the to Little Thieves and then some.  I thought I ran the gambit of emotions during Little Thieves, but Painted Devils really said "hold my beer," there is so much emotion in these pages while Vanja continues to doubt her self worth due to previous traumas, and how that plays into her various relationships. I really like that Margaret Owen manages to weave in some humor while she tells this emotional story. It'll probably kill me to wait for the third book because OF THAT ENDING.
