All the Lovers in the Night by Mieko Kawakami

5.0

All the Lovers in the Night, I think, has turned out to be my most favourite Kawakami book so far.
I love it's subtly in description and poetic writing and how every day I thought about it, I found a new aspect I hadn't noticed before, maybe making it the most nuanced in the triology.

It reminded me so much of how I ususally feel for Ishiguros works. Astonishment, when I discover what is able to be expressed through writing. Always leaving me dumbfounded and incapable of describing my emotions and thoughts other than by saying... this is just beautiful.

While reading I feared that I was going to miss something important if my attention slipped and when I finished the book I contemplated imidiatly starting it again, so that I could have a closer look on the details.

I found there to be many discussions on solitude and dependence, on wanting to escape oneself, topics that resonated with me. But also on happiness and light and finding the beauty in the fleeting moment as well as laughing while in the midst of despair.

And how sometimes, there's just so much to say, that you end up saying nothing.

What I just wrote feels so miniscule, compared to the amount of well worded reviews that can be found on here. I am not good at describing why I love something, but I loved All the Lovers in the Night. It was just honestly... beautiful.
