The Problem with Dating centers around Yara in Honey Creek, Illinois, who can't stand Alex Ramírez, owner of a fancy restaurant. They make a deal: she helps with his dog, he poses as her fake boyfriend. Things get complicated as their fake relationship starts feeling real. The story explores love and connections in a small-town setting.

“The problem with the world was they all talked about falling in love, but it was hardly discussed what falling out of love felt like.”

The Problem with Dating is a delightful romantic comedy that skillfully plays with the grumpy/sunshine dynamic embodied by Yara and Alex. Their banter is absolutely fantastic, injecting a light-hearted charm into the story. Witnessing how these two opposites come together is a real delight. Both Yara and Alex come with their own set of issues, which adds depth to their characters and makes their journey towards each other feel genuine and relatable.

“I became drunk on him, on his kiss, on his touches, on every piece of him. He might’ve been the town’s poison, but he was my remedy.”

Seeing how they bring out the best in each other is truly heartwarming. Brittainy masterfully balances humor and heart in this tale, making it an immensely enjoyable read. The side characters were just as fantastic. I'm looking forward to reading the next books in the series, focusing on Yara's sisters. However, I do wish there were a bit more intimate moments between Yara and Alex to further deepen their connection. Furthermore, I found a few characters to be overly emotional, often becoming teary-eyed or crying rather quickly. It was a tad excessive.

The Problem with Dating was very easy to read and had a great pacing, which added to the overall enjoyment of the book. I was invested from start to finish.
