I went into this thinking it was going to be purely fantasy based on the cover. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book upon discovering it was a murder/mystery. I was however thrown for a bit of a loop when it slightly diverged from being a murder/mystery. I was slightly disappointed there was a romance thrown in, but by the end I realized it was a good choice. It made the characters more human. I was happy to see Signa become comfortable with who she was and not try to force herself into a role society wanted. And that ending…I’m looking forward to the next book.
