Seven Years in Tibet by Heinrich Harrer
4.0
I watched the movie that this was based on 12 years ago and I knew it was based on a true story, but hadn't read the book. The book was so incredible, and since it was written right before the Chinese overtook Tibet, from a contemporary of that time, it was incredibly insightful. I only wish I could go back in time to what he had seen, since most of the architecture is gone, many Tibetans have left, and the attitude of the people has changed so drastically. Hearing about the Dalai Lama as a child was an added bonus.
