Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century by Alice Wong

emotional hopeful informative reflective medium-paced

5.0

This essay collection is perfection. I was hooked from start to finish and could not stop thinking about it. I am absolutely buzzing for 'Disability Intimacy' coming out soon!

I absolutely loved this diverse range of essays. I genuinely feel that this should be essential reading. It is so accessible and anecdotally written that I think anyone could read it and likely learn a lot from it.

I tried to pick some favourite essays, but honestly, every other essay was my new favourite. Every essay in this collection brings something new and unique to reflect on, with perspectives on everything from disability rights and identity to community care and friendship.
