This book is a great entry point to YA Sci-Fi for young readers
rd say.

I'll start with the reasons why. The writing is very smooth and easy to read, with minimal but enough worldbuilding and pretty natural dialogue. The descriptions are evocative, and Terrill obviously knows how to write on a technical level, so I have no complaints about that at all.
Even the premise was great. A murder mystery in space where a young poor girl is plucked from her planet to marry a wealthy heir, only for him to be murdered before she can have her chance at living the life of the rich she has so envied. God I love it.

But I, almost as equally, hate Vika. She is a complete spoiled brat, and so incredibly selfish that it's grating yo read.

Personally, I'd say that it is even at odds with her humble upbringing, and her motivations throughout the story. She is incredibly insecure about people looking down on her upbringing as a bard maid, but treats her new servants like absolute garbage. She repeatedly states that she won't send her family money because "she is there for fun" but then turns around and states that she is motivated to bring her family to the planet and offer them a better life?? Even though we never, and when I say never I mean NEVER, see a single positive interaction between her and her mother or sister. Not to forget that none of her internal dialogue supports this.

Sky, her love interest, is the complete opposite in terms of upbringing, but so humble to the point where he's bland. He's only there to fall helplessly in love with Vika for no reason.

Like I'm actually confused on how  that happened be she treats him like trash.

The chemistry is non-existent, and the romance gave me  whiplash, which is a slight disappointing since this was
advertised as an "unforgettable love" on the tagline??  Anyways, the mystery is good but unfortunately overshadowed by just the absolutely one dimensional  characters, and half baked - if not abandoned - side plots.

I had to skim by the end.

A bit of a disappointing read, but I'm sure that there are some  people out there that are willing to lay their lives on the line for  it. I'm just not one of them.

PS: this was written in one go and not proofread. excuse any
mistakes.
