The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

3.0

The Brothers Hawthorne by Jennifer Lynn Barnes--Look, I loved the initial Inheritance Games trilogy. I think the author is great, the story was well-crafted, a true delight with a fascinating premise. As this book demonstrates, that premise is rippling with potential for further exploration. Unfortunately, this follow up feels a bit like a lazy cash grab. Two stories both end up intersecting at exactly the point that requires more books. What a coincidence. I'll read future books, and I do think this expanded the universe of a series I liked, but the titular brothers felt like caricatures of the characters from the initial trilogy. Sideways thumb.
