This was an incredible book.
It took me a little while to fully get into it, mostly because in the beginning there are quite a few Spanish sentences that don’t have translations with them and.. I don’t speak Spanish.
But once Manu found El Labarinto I was fully invested. Seeing her create her found-family was spectacular!! And the Fierro twist! So good.
This was a very hard hitting book. In addition to being fantasy it is heavily influenced by the immigration crisis in America, and it is so incredibly timely and well approached. Everyone should read this.
“Man-made borders shouldn’t matter more than people.”
“Go forth, and shatter every convention.”
“Why be a son of the system, when you can be the mother of a movement”
I can’t wait for the sequel.
