Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard by Tom Felton

informative lighthearted reflective medium-paced

5.0

“The only true currency we have in life is the effect we have on those around us.”

Rating: 5 stars ⭐️ (Rating memoirs will always feel strange. I’ll be more generous with my stars because it’s someone’s literal life on their pages.)
Spice: N/A

This memoir provides a nostalgic, behind-the-scenes look into filming Harry Potter and the resulting tumultuous life of childhood actors.

Let’s Review:
💫 80% lighthearted anecdotes, 20% diving deep
💫 Reflected on his relationships with fellow HP cast members
💫 Discusses his struggles with depression and substance abuse
💫 Straightforward and earnest writing style

I’m admittedly a huge fan of the HP series, and it was fun to be immersed in the stories from filming.

I appreciated Tom Felton’s candor and vulnerability in this memoir! He showed humility through each chapter, and it made the book very readable and engaging.

If you are a proud muggle and want a dose of nostalgia, I recommend this memoir!
