Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

I admit towards the end I skimmed a bit, because I'm obviously not really interested in battles in a fantasy world. I've also realised once again that fantasy isn't really my genre.
I liked parts of the story, but also thought it all dragged on a bit: The training, the constant threats, the back and forth. The romance plot sadly didn't really work for me either. The first time they met in this story, I thought: ok, that's where this is going and I'm still haven't made up my mind if I liked or thought it was lazy storytelling because to me it was foreshadowed so much. All in all the romance (attraction, fight etc) felt quite juvenile to me as well. And not in the lovely way in which it sometimes is told in good YA romances. I don't know.
The cliffhanger at the end might still tempt to me pick up the 2nd book in the series when it comes out later this year. I hope I'll then remember how much I rolled my eyes while reading this first one.
