Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

5.0

This book is so, so wonderful. It's been a long time since a book genuinely made me cry, and this got me two or three times. It broke my heart and then mended it again. I'm going to reread it in five years or so and cry more and I can't wait.

I'm late to the party to read this so I won't bother too much with a review, but I think my favourite thing was how genuinely kind Raymond is and how the novel really allows that to be important. Eleanor's progress was so realistic and true, and I'm so glad that there's a novel that talks about real loneliness, without shying away from how pervasive and numbing it can be. I wish I'd had this book a few years ago, but I'm so glad I have it now.

This is just so wonderful. Gail Honeyman deserves every bit of praise this book has received. I'm so, so glad I read it.
