This was SO good right up until the end ruined it completely. The characters were beautiful and developed and could stand on their own. They were their own people that existed outside of each other and came together in an organic manner that was somewhat mature.

My complaints lie in the way that the relationship escalated incredibly fast, from saying their I love yous within days and planned a months long trip together within a grand total of 12 hours together. Their being smitten with each other was kinda nauseating but made sense and suited them.

Which is why the end makes no sense to me. After declaring their love for each other, Shane suffers a huge loss and instead of staying by his side and supporting him the way a partner would, Eva comes to the conclusion that they’re just not meant to be together. He’s “not ready to date” and he needs to work on himself?? HELP HIM BY BEING THERE FOR HIM. You’re here for the people you love, that’s how relationships work. It just feels like no one is actually there for Shane but Shane is always there for Eva when she needs it. If it hadn’t been for the ending, Eva would have been such a great character.

Idk, the ending kind of soured the entire book for me.
