Damn... R.F. Kuang does an amazing job in this book of capturing the racist white woman in this book. As a white person, the racist white woman and white man are very different from each other, with white woman often weaponizing their womanhood, sexuality, or other identity to prove themselves not racist while expressing racist views like June's.

This is the first of Kuang's books I've read, but in this, her writing style is so visceral, so direct, that it's impactful. At times she's even able to make June somewhat sympathetic by being able to capture this voice so well, although purposefully ruining any sympathy you might have for her in seconds in a masterful way.
