A quick little story set in the aftermath of[b:Steelheart|17182126|Steelheart (Reckoners, #1)|Brandon Sanderson|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1357576738s/17182126.jpg|21366540]. I feel like there's a lot of set up here for things going forward in the series. Which isn't to say that people must read this or they'll get lost. I'm sure the status quo established here will be covered quickly in the next full book. But this gives fans of the series a nice idea of where things may be headed.
And besides all of that, we get a nice little story where the ordinary human heroes of the series have to deal with a new threat without their standard toys or really much in the way of preparation. You get an idea of just how much of a threat an Epic can be, even if their powers aren't overtly dangerous.
