I was seriously considering DNF'ing about 30% through because of the MMC's narrator. Don't get me wrong, I love John Cho and I've seen him in stuff and he's very talented. But I think his voice is just really low-pitched and he narrates really, really slowly and it was lowkey pissing me off a bit. Every time his bits came on, I would get irritated and start to zone out. So I switched the speed up and then I was like oh okay, that's manageable.

Other than that, this book was really cute and really sweet! I haven't given a lot of 5 star reviews lately, and I'm trying to be a touch more generous with my ratings. While some of the scenes with his mom were a bit stressful, I appreciated that storyline and I also loved that Wes was able to overcome those tendencies when it came to Nadine. How ultimately, that led to his moving in with his sister and their relationship only grew stronger from there.

I also love an MMC who can cook! And I really loved that Nadine loved his cooking, too, and how he was so happy and excited to be able to cook for someone who enjoyed his food. His excitement over Nadine saying "OMG this is so good" got me smiling giggling blushing something stupid every single time! I love that his acts of service-type stuff was so accepted by Nadine; it shows that he really does love caring for people and doing stuff for them. He just needed an appreciative outlet. It also made me happy that hanging out so much with Nadine helped him realize that it wasn't him, it was his mom. #overcomingtrauma #boyboss

Nadine stood out a bit less to me, which was interesting to note because usually MMC's are like heavily-discussed background characters. I actually loved this, and I felt like I got enough of Nadine to not make it a problem. I loved her Ice Queen persona, and I super loved how she was able to stand up for her no-good boss, and also that another woman in the office helped her and was on her side #girlboss #girlsgirl #istandwithher

I did also really like her friend, Leeann (so sorry if I'm spelling that wrong, I can't see it written anywhere on the book page or in CTRL+F'ing the reviews) and their frank conversation about how Leeann doesn't want to censor herself in front of Nadine. That was such a lovely conversation, one that I think is so important in friendships. I really, really appreciated reading that. The cats too stood out to me so much, and though they were not *technically* characters, they also were, ya feel me?

Overall, I'm super glad I continued reading this! It was really fun, lighthearted, a tiny bit mysterious what with the death of the woman, and it made me smile.
