This may be the most Star Trek that Star Wars has been. There were plenty of familiar creatures and some new, but what was interesting was the use of alternate dimensions and wormholes. That isn't common in Star Wars. They didn't take it too far, but it is certainly out of formula and I have traversed much of the new canon.
