The Sower of Tales by Rachna Gilmore

5.0

I read this when it was listed under the MYRCA books, and voted for it but unfortunately it didn't win. It is a really fantastic book and what I loved most was the world the author created. This was a tale of fantasy that I hadn't heard before and it was really entertaining and cool! Calantha is the main character and she is apprenticing for the Gatherer, a person who picks these 'story pods' which are planted by the Sower of Tales, and when opened they tell a story to the townspeople. However, these story pods stop growing so Calantha sets out to find the Sower of Tales.
I really enjoyed the uniqueness of this story, though there were some parts near the end of the story that could have more description to meet loose ends.
It's a wonderful book to read to get yourself lost in this new world. I would rate the creativity of this setting of fantasy with Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin, really outstanding! (Should've won the MYRCA!)
