The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett
2.0
I've learned from experience when listening to audio books that to get the most out of them, I can't do things that require my focus elsewhere. If I try to, for example, play a game while listening to an audio book, there's a pretty good chance I may miss part of the story. I think I had that happen a few times with this book. Which is an amazing trick, seeing as I was actually reading this one and not listening to it in audio form.
Unlike the first book in the series, we have a single story for the duration of the run. And it's one long, almost stream of consciousness, run. There are no chapters for the one hundred and sixty plus pages, with maybe only a couple of blank lines to break up the writing when a dramatic scene change occurs. I would point to things of this nature to explain why at times I would find suddenly asking how a new plot development had taken place. I almost think the short stories of the previous book worked better, as it may have reigned in the author.
All of the things I liked from the previous book are still here. And I did enjoy this one. I just think I liked the first one better.
