Ann Braden's follow up to the exceptional The Benefits of Being An Octopus proves to be just as exceptional.
Flight of the Puffin is a gorgeous middle grade novel, and a necessary one. Told from multiple perspectives so subtly woven together, Puffin starts with Libby, whose family has a reputation for being bullies. Libby is determined to break that mold, and starts with a small, creative venture that ends up changing a lot of lives for the better.
Flight of the Puffin would make a sensational read aloud, could be a candidate for a "one school, one book" program, or a student selection for a middle grade book club, just to name a few ideas. No matter what road you take with this book, just buy it. You will not regret it.
