The Cosmos in Her Hand by Jennifer Cyphers

adventurous dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced

5.0

Jennifer Cyphers blends sci-fi, love, and war in a post-apocalyptic saga. Over 17 years, survivors navigate a world without power, encountering hope, friendship, and resilience.
Protagonists Lev and Kali confront life and death, good and evil, as Time is personified—a friend ensuring life’s evolution. Cyphers’ vivid characters engage all senses, with acts of kindness, love, music, and bravery.
Through dialogue and action, they reflect human complexities, with technology for time travel, invisibility and resurrecting the dead, making them also, god-like, and the consequences of scientific power.
When the wrong doers get what’s coming to them, it’s nothing short of gratifying.
The characters found a place in my heart, and I thoroughly cherished the story.

Themes: Post-apocalyptic survival, resilience amid devastation, consequences of misused science, complexities of human nature, evolving relationships, community and connection.
