Come to Me Quietly by A.L. Jackson

3.0

Oh my! This book is a beauty. A.L. Jackson has a way of writing a love story that consumes you - the emotions are so potent that they intoxicate you.

Jared and Aleena's story is heart wrenching and hopeful. Jared is a man with a tortured past, and he's finally come back home after running away six years ago. Aleena is his best friend from childhood, and she tries desperately to show Jared that he belongs, and that he deserves love and happiness. She tries to reach Jared, tries to get through all his self-hate and blame, but Jared's sorrow is soul deep, and fighting through all that hurt and guilt is a battle that Aleena fears will leave her just as broken as Jared.

I love this type of story and l love these types of characters. This story is about coming home, and finding peace with your past. Jared has to face his demons and find a way to allow himself to live, for himself and for the ones who love him. As much as I love Jared and feel for him, I think I love Aleena more. She's so strong and steadfast, being a beacon of light for Jared, so that he can find his way through the darkness.

Alternating between the past and the present, Jackson developed these characters perfectly, and now I'm very much invested in their story. This book ended beautifully, but still left so many questions unanswered. The author set the foundation for what I'm sure will be an enthralling series, and I can't wait to read Come To Me Softly! Read this book!
