One single card from her deck was upturned on her sheets, a card she didn't remember pulling, a card she didn't remember touching. The Death card.

This is the stunning, spooky, spicy dark academia read that I didn't know that I needed, and I am SO glad that I read it. Seriously, I am obsessed with the vibes that this book gives off, and the mystery of Verenmore. Gothikana was well-written, and I had trouble putting it down due to the suspense and surprising plot twists. There is one loose end in this book that doesn't seem to get tied up as it concludes, but I'm hoping that maybe this story will continue on in another book? I did read somewhere that there's going to be a prequel released at some point, so I'm definitely looking forward to that!

Verenmore was her clean slate, and Vad Deverell was her writing on the wall.

The chemistry between Corvina and Vad was amazing, and it was so intriguing to see how their relationship unfolded in the midst of the macabre secrets and occurrences of Verenmore. Most of the story is told from Corvina's POV, but there's a few chapters from Vad's POV that were very enticing. Overall, one of my favorite dark academia reads so far!
