entertaining and light. racism still doesn't exist in this extremely white village in Ohio, the only Chinese restauran  is owned by a white woman and the main character still says that she doesn't know kf one of the characters is 'Middle Eastern or North African' and this is supposed to be funny?

it is nice and entertaining and light. also glad that there is not much copaganda, which is always a big plus in a mystery novel, because they are usually riddled with copaganda.

although I understand the writer wanted go keep the story light, it is so unbelievable that there is no mention what so ever of rscism. while the family is one of the veeeery few black ppl in an extremely white village in Ohio, lol.

incredible book, which is why I gave it 5* despite the following critique of the editor:

first critical thoughts on Imprissoned Intelectuals:

- putting those behind 1993 / 911 in the same sentence as those who did the Oaklahoma bombing...while stating later in the book that some of the 'valid' political prisoners took the action that landed them in a cage in response to 'severe social repression and gov. misconduct' (I am not saying that those who orchestrated 93 / 01 should be consired this but i also don't think they should be put in the same category as the white supremacists of OKC bombing, because the violence of US imperialism created the conditions that makes those under it's boots & those with shared identity see 93 / 01 as a justified response to that violence)
- continuing to emphasize that, for example rapists and child molestors are ' 'inherently bad ppl' that basically deserve to be in jail (doesn't literally say that, but that is what my read is)

I made a lot of highlights and will try to share more when I get the chance to get through them, but for now here is one from Mumia Abu-Jamal to radical intellectuals:

"You may be targeted. You may be vilified. You may be threatened. You may even be “disappeared.”
Yet this world, and life itself, is broader than the ivory towers of academia. Make external
connections. Build bridges to the larger, nonacademic community.
Establish social, political
and communal networks. The word radical means “from the roots’’-so, build roots! Touch base with real folks, and work for the only real source of liberty-life!"

such an important work and very accessible language. i finished it within 24hs.

5 out of 5 for sure! will share some passages at a later moment.

my 1 critique is that i wish she wouldn't use the word 'terrorist' to describe the white supremacist violence or state violence. to quote Palestinian performance artist:

"Terrorism does only what it was designed to do only to those it was designed to target. Terrorism cannot be recuperated. We cannot use or weaponize it for our own purposes. It means nothing to call Israeli or American violence terrorist violence, because terrorism is a one-sided weapon and its bullets belong to the state. The state cannot appear in the scope. In trying to prove that we are not terrorists, or prove that someone else is a terrorist, we reify that the weapon of terrorism ought to exist at all, and that the problem is simply giving it the right target. We reload the weapon ourselves when we do this."
