I absolutely loved this! If you're a Dickens fan, give this a go.

This book follows Thomas who has just moved to London to escape his abusive father, only to be drawn in to the London molly scene but there is a rat in their midst and Thomas and Gabriel (the molly guard) have to find out who it is as their fellow mollies are picked off one by one around them and two brutal Justices are on their way to raid the molly houses and destroy the community that Thomas has found there, all while Gabriel and Thomas can't help but fall in love.

This is based around real events that happened to the mollies of London and the dangers that they faced as being a gay man (and acting upon it) was a hanging offence, one that many people would turn up to witness. A.J. West has embroiled his characters in this and reading this had my emotions all over the place, I was so scared for Thomas, Gabriel and the other mollies while also feeling hope for the love that this found (yet disfunctional) family had for eachother. This will break your heart but also make you want to fight for the mollies and the allies they had.
