I really enjoyed this! I feel like it definitely was overly descriptive at times but I can’t lie, I absolutely ATE UP (pun totally intended) all the paragraphs lovingly detailing all the food everyone ate. And all the desserts Chloe made? Man I wish there were edibles that tasted as good as hers sound. Although I do love that the author included a recipe for Chloe’s brownies at the end.

I got 23 pages in and I couldn’t take it anymore. The part where she’s like “it was impossible for Timothee Chalamet to have not fallen in love with his costar I can TELL” is like, girl…even if I didn’t know who that costar is, it just makes me cringe. Granted, I already think he’s deeply overhyped as an actor, so I know I won’t be able to be objective on that front, but putting that aside, I just know the second-hand embarrassment is going to kill me and I had to DNF.

Thanks to NetGalley and Anna at Summit Books for the digital ARC, all opinions are my own. Tbh, I should have done more research before accepting the ARC, but I got excited because it was the first time I actually got offered one instead of requesting it myself, but if I had looked at reviews, I probably wouldn’t have even tried to read it.

Idk how I felt about this. Most of it was pretty good, I liked seeing how the mystery unfolded, but the Dominic POV felt so unnecessary to me and the ending was…not it. Unlike some of the other reviews, I liked Laurel and Claire as characters, which is why the ending really didn’t work for me. And especially a certain line in the note…ew.

Tbh I probably shouldn’t have even requested this book from NetGalley because based on the description it’s exactly what I thought it was, and I know I only got 34 pages in but seriously how do you write a book set on Fire Island and not have any gay characters/have it not be a gay romance?? It seems like it’d be cute/I didn’t hate the vibes/it had good atmosphere from the little I read but in Pride Month?? I’m not continuing this as I have way more gay and/or summer books to read this summer.

This is only 62 pages so you'd think I'd push through but actually it just means I'm even more willing to DNF because I don't care enough to keep going and also the main guy's name is TRUCKER? Somehow I didn't realize that when I added it to my TBR and like please be serious.

I might go back and read this eventually but I just didn't care enough to keep going even after having it checked out from the library for 3 weeks and I have way too many other books on my TBR I'd rather read.

The dirty talk was so cringy (there's literally no reason for him to suddenly be calling her "good girl"), I didn't care about either character or their relationship and the whole premise/set up of the main girl's sister's suicide just feels like it was treated...weirdly.

DNFed about 49 pages in. What I read was fine, but I don’t really care enough to keep going.

I was just so bored and the way it was written made it so hard to distinguish between Louis's endless monologue and the narration. Watch the TV show instead.
