More mature than Ninth House, better writing and character development. All in all, a fun read.

I enjoyed it, it’s a fun read. I can’t say I was able to connect well with the characters and the props were all too obvious. There were a couple of surprises but nothing too unexpected. Will still read the sequel and hope for the best.

Open ended… some clear themes “adapted” from memluk and ottoman history, and definitely some not so favorable nods to Islam despite it never being officially mentioned. Typical “east from a western point of view”
Other than that, mildly entertaining. I hope the last chapter brings on a more satisfactory ending.
