Super cute and fun! If you’re a T Swift/Kelce lover then you’ll enjoy this🙄 I hated the social media content in this book lol it was very annoying but still went along with the aesthetic I suppose. I feel like this one was more slow burn than book 1 but there was still the insta-love aspect meets fake dating. I’m just here for entertainment purposes not truly the quality within lol I feel like that sounds bad but the Kingman men are quite comical!!

This is an extremely beautifully written book, love the cultural content and the growth our MC has. This is more of a prolonged journey fantasy story. The cliffhanger sets up book 2 fantastically. I would just need to be in the right headspace to read this story to truly appreciate it!

I can understand people not appreciating the trope, yea not my favorite BUT baby this execution!!!! I loved this so much😫😭 if my future husband don’t talk to me like Rome then I don’t want it!!! This was so good! When done right a novella can seem like a standard length novel and this packed a punch. It actually left me reallllly intrigued to learn more about the Orishas. I’ve never been able to stick with a book with African mythology just because of the lack of knowledge but this book wasn’t too much and gave you what you needed to still be able to enjoy the story! I believe this is book 1 in a novella duology! Really excited for book 2 and the journey in which our MC continues!

Thank you to the publisher TorDotComPub for an ARC copy of this book.

I’m not really sure how to feel about this lol Sorin…1000% yes I’m hereeee for hiiiiim! Scarlett….shes supposed to be this bad ass assassin and I’m just constantly getting whiney confused individual like she’s not selling me that she can stand on her own feet and do what she needs to do. I loved the relationships forming and the development of the bonds. But does this need to be as long as it was…hell no!

This was so much fun! Going into this I didn’t have much expectation but definitely a good time!!
Golden Retriever, best friends to lovers situation!
I wish we got a little bit more character development, it was just hey here we are and here’s our short love story. Definitely interested in the additional siblings because they were hilarious!

🌶️ 🌶️ - I’m realizing I HATE dirty talk so I have to filter a little bit, but when they just keep going I’m like okaaaayyy we get it “filthy girl/horny guy” let’s keep going on the action already!!!🤣

It’s rare when book 2 outshines book 1 but man Yasmin has a true gift!!!! Book 1, blew me out of the park!! And book 2 just continued to build onto that backstory AND THEN SOME!!! And all I can say is buckle up and grab a helmet because you will get rocked and flipped and turn sideways but it’s such an action packed and suspenseful ride! I loved it! I absolutely loved it!

There were parts of this story that I loved and then there were parts that just kind of dragged for me. I loved the relationship between the brothers but I was sad at the situation that took place, I was hoping this story took a different route in the storyline. And then at around the 75% mark we kind of drifted in another area that kind of dragged for me. I enjoyed Isabel’s part and her character was truly a mother figure and giving workers an opportunity to earn their wages. As a debut this was a really impactful story and the writing was well done!

Did not finish book. Stopped at 43%.
This wasn’t terrible but I think I just found at some point I didn’t care for the story. I love a good retelling. And I love spicy books! But a dark spicy retelling may not be my vibe. The Villians series wasn’t too bad because it’s almost expected but changing the whole character of a beloved childhood story was difficult for me to adjust to. This is definitely a niche for some just not for me.

Re-read 5⭐️
I needed a pick me up and this was exactly what I needed!! The physical read was a much better experience, I read at my pace and got giddy all over again in so many moments!! I saw details and foreshadowing moments that I missed previously . Just an overall reading fun and exciting reading journey!!
