I loved it so much!!!
Such an original story: at points sad and at other’s hilarious. Twists and irony follow this group of diverse women ♥️ it is riveting and inspiring and the characters come out of the book and become alive as you would actually know them in real life. I loved it.

Amazing.
This man’s bravery and resilience are to applaud. I feel like I would be so amazing to meet the author and tell him in person how much his book gave me hope. I could re-listen to it again and I would be enjoying just as.
Plus it has elements of comedy too. Really it’s an autobiography but reads like a complete fiction story. A must!

Very nice illustrations
A bit tedious book and the characters were annoying and petulant. That’s how teenagers are but I don’t think I want to read about them again in the next future.

Really cozy! Relatable, emotional, not predictable (despite being of the same style of the midnight library). Nice that it’s divided in 4 stories but the main characters always stay the same throughout the book.
My favourite thing is that I could not predict the plot and it rose interesting discussions in my bookclub!

Seriously inspiring
The grace and the flow of this book are so natural that they seep through every sentence. I loved the main characters because they were so human and believable. Although some of them are gods, it is only by name and ability. But their souls is pretty common, submitted to all the emotions that we have and even more complexed ones. I was very captivated. Maybe the first few pages where you get the background are slightly less captivating but they are very useful to give you a full idea. After 50-60 pages the story takes life and it’s enthralling!!
I’m so happy I’ve got to read it.

I liked many things of this book. I think I’ve enjoyed most for its analysis of society and for how it depicts the change within a rural society of Alabama in 1930. I admired the character of Atticus, his resilience and perseverance. There are very little people in the world with such an understanding and tolerance for the human complexity. He didn’t pity people for their own aggressivity or stupidity, navigating the world on a shallow level but he understood that this was their best and at that moment in time this is what they were able to comprehend.
I also was impressed by his sister which I thought was a fault in that family but who I understood having just as great inner strength. I was very impressed. It’s well written and surely a revolutionary book for its time. Nowadays it’s a great showcase to learn the history of a place from the language, to the customs to people’s mentality.
Lovely! 🥰

Mmh tough one
Although the world was well crafted and I was interested in knowing the ending, it didn’t click for me. This book is based on how normal people react to power and they get shaped by it, forgetting even why they are doing it. It’s well crafted but I wasn’t emotionally invested in any of the characters and quite didn’t care what would happen to them because I could not connect with them. In addition, in real life I stir away whenever I hear extremist discussions. Like the voice said: Nothing it’s what it looks, black or white. Nothing it’s simple.
So extreme movements really don’t have an ounce of regard in me especially when they argue with so much violence and self entitlement.
The fact is also that I don’t agree with the message, I don’t agree that there would just be crazy people. It’s like if all the women just joined a massive cult and them being liberated by the fear they used to carry made them savages and irresponsible. Where are the normal people? Where are the good people? The only good character is Tunde and he is a man. So, are women corrupted, immoral and violent just because now they have power? .. ok

Waaaaa
I’ve just finished this book and I absolutely loved it ♥️ and it’s my first non fiction that reads like a story! Mesmerising, gripping and heart-wrenching 💦 I loved that it’s all real and it tells you at the end what happened in the long run to the main characters met in the book. I couldn’t have read faster as eager as I was while knowing the verdict. Real life meets tale. I’m not a sailing fan (I haven’t even watched the movie) but it was so much more than just the Titanic and I felt that everything was talked through the right amount of pages and the book explores various issues rather than focusing on the Titanic disaster only.

This book really bored me. It’s full of fillers, written in first person and it’s like listening to a teenager rumbling, just tedious. Plus I found out that many people felt the ending ruined it for them, so already I didn’t like these pages, I won’t continue. I feel like a gave it a fair shot.
