I liked the story until I got into a certain part of the book and then it just changed it for me. I don't know if it was just the story or the author. Will have to read something else of hers to know for sure. I would recommend getting this book from a library instead of going out to purchase.
A Touch of Crimson by Sylvia Day

If you are a fan of Sylvia Day's work, like I am, you will love this new book. It's a book you'll hate to put down!

Adrian Mitchell is a character you have to feel sorry for right from the beginning. He has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. Within the first five pages the action begins and continues all the way until the last page.

The action, and Sylvia's writing style, keeps the reader's attention throughout the whole story. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!!!

In chapter 2, we meet Lindsay, Adrian's love interest. Every woman loves a good love story but theirs takes a while to develop. This is what keeps the readers turning the pages to see if they finally get together. Sylvia does a great job of using her words so that the reader can picture exactly what is going on in the story.

Now Adrian isn't your normal hero—he's an angel. And Lindsay is human, isn't she? You'll have to read each page to find out!

There are lycans who work for the angels. Elijah is one of them. Is he for or against the angels? Do the main characters ever connect? (See last sentence of previous paragraph for more information. )

I'm a reader that can usually tell by the end of the first chapter if the story line is going to hold my attention so that I will want to finish the book. With this book, I couldn't wait to read the next chapter to see what was going to happen.

I will definitely read the next book in the Renegade Angels series when it comes out. If you've never read Sylvia Day before, this will make you want to read more of her books, promise!

I give it 4 1/2 stars.
A Kiss for Luck by Kele Moon

Dr. Clara Evans is trying to get through a divorce and her best friend, Jackson Philips, is allowing her to stay with him for a while. Clara is an emergency room doctor and Jackson is a paramedic. They have known each other since high school. Her soon to be ex, Frank, is a real jerk and Clara deserves better.

Clara is trying to survive New Year’s Eve quietly when Jackson walks through the door. She takes matters into her own hands and gives him a midnight kiss. He reciprocates by giving pleasure she has never felt before – she’s never felt better.

Even as Jackson and Clara make love, he pays her compliments. How many of you would appreciate that? Jackson also takes care of her. He is definitely a “friend with benefits”. I wouldn’t mind him as my friend! They’re very comfortable about their sexuality and themselves. They know what they want and are willing to give what the other needs.

If this story was a paper edition, the pages would be scorched. If you’re looking for a quick read, this is definitely one I would recommend reading. Kele grabs the reading right from the beginning. This is one of those short stories that you don’t mind reading over and over again. I would also check out any other books that Kele has written. This story would definitely make a great Lifetime movie – although the censors would have to get involved and that wouldn’t be a good thing. One can always hope though.

I give “A Kiss of Luck” 4 ½ stars (or flames).

Joy is seen going into her husband's study. She's planning a surprise birthday party for him. She finds something in his study that puzzles her.

Joy and Jonathan don't seem to be a happy couple. How the title came to be will be clear as you continue to read. This party is a one of a kind. The ending was a complete surprise.

I would recommend reading this. It's short. It holds your attention. And if you only have a little time to enjoy a good read, this story is for you.

I give "Hidden Intent" 4 1/2 stars.
Into The Unknown by J.A. Belfield, Aimee Laine, Jocelyn Adams

This is a novella of six stories by the following authors: J.A. Belfield, Aimee Laine, and Jocelyn Adams. These are to support the debut novel for each of the authors. These novellas definitely peaked my interest. I have questions that I need answered. As I finished each story I kept saying "oh come on, I want to know what happens next". If you are looking for some new authors to read, I would add this book and these authors to your TBR list. Then you will need to add their debuts as well so that the questions we have can be answered. This is what makes a good book, we want more. I give "Into the Unknown..." 4 1/2 stars.

“Hide & Seek: A Games of Zeus Novel” by Aimee Laine
Lexi Shepherd ran along the beach to make a delivery. Her client isn’t happy. She runs away from him and ends up at the wrong house. She meets a man there who intrigues her. His name is Tripp Fox. She’s also searching for her soulmate. This is where our mystery begins.

When Lexi first meets Tripp she doesn’t realize it but he has a fiancée. In talking, they find that they have something in common but neither is happy about it. Lexi also finds that there are other ways that they are connected. This will keep you reading because you will want to know what’s going to happen next. You will also want to brush up on your knowledge of mythology – especially about the Laelaps and the Teumessian Fox.

The first sex scene between Lexi and Tripp is very interesting. If you don’t read this story, you won’t find out what makes it so interesting. They then have a second scene on a hotel balcony. Are you getting any ideas? Maybe it’s something you would like to explore with your partner. Lexi also finds out about one of Tripp’s special gifts.

Along their journey, they will meet an interesting elderly couple, George and Marge. If you love happy ending stories, Aimee gives that to you. I recommend that this is a story you will want to read. Besides a love story it’s a mythology lesson. It will also make you want to see if there will be a second book.

Maggie Mae by Sandy Wolters

Maggie Mae Dixon is seen on the beach ready to marry the man she loves. James David Carson is the man who filled the empty spot in her life. But it’s all a dream. Her husband died five years ago.

She’s come to visit with Amanda and says hello to her dad, Rafferty. Rafferty was Jimmy’s best friend and business partner. He also has a secret. He wants to tell Maggie but the time has never been right. Sandy gives us a glimpse of what Raff and Maggie had in the past. She will have you laughing when she tells you the story of Maggie on the slopes and how Raff is there to save the day.

We see Michael Rogers telling his officer, Michelle Dooley, about an incident at the local middle school. It will have you going eww. Sandy’s writing makes the scene very believable and laughable at the same time. Michael then gets an interesting call on his cell phone.

We find that it’s Maggie’s brother, Marc, on the other end and he’s in a panic. You would think the world was coming to an end or World War III was just around the corner. Meanwhile, Maggie is recalling an incident between her and Raff’s mother. Can we say woman from hell?

Michael then gets to meet Maggie and she surprises him. As you read the scene, she will surprise you as well. There seems to be a connection that neither of them can explain. We see her start as a caterpillar and then turn into a butterfly.

Maggie then has to go to her friend Carley’s house. Carley has been trying to set her up for a while now. Maggie gets very creative in getting rid of her blind dates. It’s just one more scene where Sandy has you laughing.

Maggie’s first sexual experience, since her husband passed away, is very hot. And at the end of the scene it’s one more time that Sandy has you laughing. Then she turns around and turns up the heat. But always in the back of your mind you wonder what became of Raff. And then Michael and Raff meet – can we say roosters?

I had never heard of Sandy before. Then I was asked to do a review of this book. I was very happy that I was asked. She has a way of spinning a story that has you falling in love with the main characters. Her female character is a woman who takes no prisoners and laughing at her at the same time. If you haven’t read “Maggie Mae” before you need to read it or at the very least have it on your TBR list.

Brownwood, Texas
Patrick Sheehan is seen at a funeral for Emily Campbell. She was loved by so many people in this small town. She cared a lot about the town and the people that lived there. Boyd Campbell is Emily’s husband. Boyd is also Patrick’s boss and the Chief of Police.

Rachael Merchant knows Michael Rogers (read his story in “Maggie Mae”). She’s a homicide cop with some very special abilities that help her in her job. She ends up getting lost and lands in Brownwood. The action seems to start right after Patrick and Rachael meet. Patrick starts acting like a jealous boyfriend and Rachael thinks he’s crazy.

Sandy has given Patrick quite the ego. She’s also made Rachael a strong-willed woman. Patrick’s mother is a real “cracker jack” – she really loves her son. The three of them have you turning the pages just to see what will happen between them next. Sandy creates a morning after scene (not what you’re thinking) that has you chuckling and feeling sorry for Rachael at the same time.

This story focuses more on the unexplained. This gives a story to those feelings you sometimes have when you just can’t explain a happening that no one else sees or feels. It will keep you riveted until the mystery of Emily is solved – you will be hooked.

Because of the police being involved in this mystery, Sandy’s descriptions seem to be spot on. I felt like I was watching one of the crime shows on television. The detail she used – would love to know what type of research she did to be so accurate.

This is a story that I would love to see be made into a movie – definitely Lifetime material. They would have to include Rachael’s bird - would make a great “running gag” in the film. Sandy doesn’t make this a book about sex between Rachael and Patrick – even though their romance is sensual. This is a story about making sure that justice is served. And as you finish another great book from Sandy Wolters, please make sure to read the Author’s Notes at the end.

Jillian Grayson is seen in bed with her laptop. She’s an author who’s trying to write a story. Like a lot of authors, she has a pen name. She also has a son that is currently away at college.

Victoria Wilde is a friend of Jillian’s. Jillian is having a problem with writer’s block and calls Victoria for some help. My impression of Victoria is one wild cougar. I will say that I thought I would see more of her in this book since it is her series.

Robert Grayson is having a Super Bowl party in his college dorm. Rob’s friend, and roommate, Brian is intrigued by one of the young women, Natalie, at the party. He hasn’t known her very long but feels that she could be the one. Now do you remember your college days? How many of the college hook-ups lasted?

Jillian goes out on a date that can we say was interesting. It makes you wonder where this guy came from. She then goes on another date and he’s not too far behind from the previous date. We have to wonder if her date “picker” is off. Will she every find someone to share her life with? Well, you’ll just have to read the story to find out.

Brian’s relationship with Natalie is sweet. But it leaves us wanting to know if they will be taking the next step in this relationship. But then Spring Break comes up. And things always seem to change on Spring Break.

Rob has invited Brian to come home with him during Spring Break. It’s a most interesting time. One I never saw coming but probably should have given the title of this story. As Brian meets Victoria, you have to laugh at his impression. And then he meets Jillian.

Ian has definitely given us a “cougar” story. I do think, however, that not just women are going to want to read this story. First impression I got was this was a college guy’s wet dream come to life. Of course, they wouldn’t admit that they even read a story like this. Ian gives us more of an erotic tale than one of romance. Women, it may even give you some ideas if you are an older single woman who doesn’t look half bad.

As I read the story, I even forgot that this was written by a man. There have been some books that I have tried to read that were written by men and they just didn’t hold my attention. Ian made me want to break out the fan so that I could cool down from getting so hot. Would I read more of his work? Yes I would. But now it’s up to you to decide if you feel the same way.
