A few years in the future those Brits have a ministry of time that can transport people from the past. They pick people who are not important to history so it doesn’t alter the future or present really. The goal seems to be to see if it possible to acclimate people from the past to the present - so can a guy from 1845 learn to use a microwave?
Told from the perspective of a woman tasked as a bridge, or assistant to a person from the past, this book is witty, funny, heartbreaking and mind bending.
The question in these types of books is always just because we can do something should we? And of course I spent too much time overthinking timelines in this book.
Where the book was not as strong for me was the narrator who I didn’t find I liked as much as I think the author intended. Part of this was the scientific mindset of the character but I needed a bit more humanness.
But truly this book was just a wonderful reading experience- unique and pretty brilliant.

Honey: A Novel by Isabel Banta

I was really drawn in by this idea but it just fell flat. There was a lack of character depth needed for Amber to really care about the story and it was extremely repetitive. Settings were rarely described in detail and everything felt glossed over. And then the story itself just lacked a compelling reason other than she is famous for being sexy.
I sometimes wonder if things would get published if authors were not in the publishing world already.
