There was a lot to love about this book. The detailed commitment of musicians to their craft, family legacy and gift, examples of racism in every facet of our culture, and a great story.  The part that fell flat for me was the thriller part around the theft of the violin.  The culprit felt obvious and all of the chase and the investigation felt disjointed.  But I really still loved it.

This book was a brilliant retelling of Carrie.  It was really amazing on audible - because of the performances so I highly suggest reading the book that way.

This book is exactly what it needed to be.  It was a great light read that didn’t take itself too seriously and had endearing characters.

This book is as good as everyone says.  And it made me cry in the best way books do.

I really really struggle with books that make pregnancy an obstacle to the plot in a thriller.  Every time she discovers something she then passes out or gets sick and dizzy. It became so ridiculously belabored (pun intended) and it made the story stretch on unreasonably. Editing is a really important skill and I wish I felt like it was happening consistently even with well established authors. Some of the best thrillers have excellent editing. Let’s get back to that skill set please.
