this was such a super cool graphic novel! i loved how her hair color changed depending on her mood swings, the pictures are just soo stunning! although it contains a serious mental illness, it was really fun to read this. also i need friends like that irl ugh π© highly recommend! xx
i also wanna say thank you to netgalley for providing me a copy of this in exchange for an honest review!

The Deathless Girls by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

it was a good read. debut ya novel which wasn't my favorite, but not one to dnf either, i guess. going into it, i feel like i expected something else. it is a Dracula retelling, dark and mysterious, but not in a way that would make me remember this book.

however, it is a book that has beautiful descriptions about nature and animals, but i found myself bored to DEATH while reading it. the end of the book quite saved the whole story tbh. this is a book that i'll forget really quick lmao
it does include grief, torture, love, magic & all that type of stuff but only the ending of it is worth reading tbh. it's this book that has a sad ending, not a happy one, so that's a change.

i liked Kizzy as a character tbh, she was ferocious and stubborn & yk characters like that are my weakness ;) we stan a bad bitch in books!! i also loved the relationship between Lil and Mira, but other than these characters - meh. also, gotta mention that the relationship between the twins and their mom was so fucking heart warming!! made me miss my mum since she's back in Lithuania ugh :/
β β β β β β β β β
i do recommend reading this book, but i think people who like poetry, nature & just stories that go with the flow (and a bit of darkness) would like this better. i, on the other hand, am a sucker for action & drama, so it ended being a quite a boring book π xx

Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan
3.5
if i had to describe this book, like what's it about, i genuinely couldn't π
it has so much shit in it that if u've seen this book around, u just need to read it to actually decide whether u like it or not. not listen to other's opinion. also, i don't think this book is for everyone either. it's hard to explain why tbh. i liked it, but if u said u hated it, i'd completely understand why, yk what i mean? π
anyway, let's get into things i liked and disliked.
β β β β β β β β β
first of all, the cover??? YES. we stan it. the city in it looks gothic af & i love all things gothic :)))
next, i loved Serefin. he's extremely funny, even when he's confused about shit that's going on behind his back. the amount of times i smiled & laughed while reading his chapters π i also liked Ostyia, Kacper, Parijahan & Rashid as crew members bc without them Serefin & Nadya both would be dead meat lol. the way they did their best to protect them both is remarkable.
the plot was utterly unique, i don't think i've ever read anything like this before. i couldn't explain it even if i wanted to, so i'm not gonna even try, but i liked it. although some things, in my opinion, happened wayyy too easily for my dramatic ass' liking lol.
also i loved reading those lil paragraphs above the chapters that gave the back story of the previous saints that lived long ago. i appreciate authors that do it!!

now things i disliked.
the names. oh my god. it's so hard to pronounce?? it really does put me off when names are hard to pronounce. also there were polish sentences which weren't translated. one time, i tried translating it. the google translator done me dirty, showing me translation that doesn't even make sense lol, next time i didn't even bother. pls, give translation if u're using languages that aren't english in ur books.
next, Nadya. at times she was way too naive & cringey. girl, just pack it in, ur fucking country is in need of ur help.
the plot, although likable, didn't live up to be my fav or four diamond read.
β β β β β β β β β
however, i'll continue w the series & hopefully it gets better. after all, i'm really intrigued by where the story will end up going.
i do recommend reading this to those who enjoy fantasy & i wouldn't encourage u to listen to other's reviews, u need to read it urself to know whether it's the one u like or dislike! xx

She Kills Me: The True Stories of History's Deadliest Women by Jennifer Wright
4.0
finished this gem of a book. everybody who says women are innocent and incapable of ferociousness β they need to read this immediately. my mouth was hanging open so many times istg. from cannibalism and enslavement to assassination and leading armies. true stories told with some humour, about ancient women & even a few modern. highly recommend this book!! xx
The Beautiful by RenΓ©e Ahdieh
3.75
okay so this book was enjoyable, πππ overrated imo. i don't usually read vampire themed books, so i thought i'd give it a try and it wasn't bad, but neither was it my favorite read.
β β β β β β β β β
the plot was great, i loved the idea of it and the slow unraveling of events. i never guessed who the devil was. i found it kind of confusing as to what truly happened in the past between Bastien and the devil, like the back story of it all, we don't get that much info in this book. i guess in the 2nd it's more explained then? idk lol
i also found myself relating to Celine in so many occasions, i loved that she was one fearless character & didn't give a rat's ass about what people thought about her or her actions. i loved that she was independent, stoic and held her ground when she needed to do so. her personality was pretty good developed. i also enjoyed Pippa as Celine's best friend and i think we all need a Pippa in our lives lmaoo she was a proper definition of a best friend. caring, loving, supportive and honest. i completely fell in love with their friendship development.
also, Celine πππππ Shakespeare which i found amusing. idk why to be honest, i just loved when he was mentioned & ππππππ in her conversations w other people, if that makes sense lol.

what i didn't like about this book was that there were sooo many french sentences that needed to be translated into english. there were times when the author in the next sentences ahead kinda gave us a translation of it, but then there were equal amount of times when i found it annoying instead of reading, having to pick up my phone and translate what the fuck did this sentence mean lol.
the plot didn't quite fully live up to it for me to give it 4 or even 5 diamonds. it was enjoyable, but not to the point where i could put it to my all time faves list or recommend to people saying it was phenomenal. bc it wasn't.
the romance aspects at times were really really sugary which i hate in books, although i guess it's good that it was slow burning.
the next thing is that the side characters had different personalities, so that's good, but i didn't really care for them & they weren't that much in the picture and fully developed. i think they should've been more in the scene of things.
and the last thing that i had issues with was that there were lots of descriptions which were completely unnecessary and while reading those parts of the book, i found myself being bored to death.
β β β β β β β β β
it was still enjoyable and i would recommend reading this to vampire, forbidden romance lovers, but i don't want u to expect much as this book is still seen ππππππππππ, i think it's highly overrated.

The Secret Garden: A Graphic Novel by Mariah Marsden
4.0
ahh this graphic novel brought so much nostalgia towards the story. i've never read a book, but seen the movie in middle school which was brilliant. the pictures in this book were so cute and adorable π© i thoroughly loved it! xx
It's Been a Pleasure, Noni Blake: A Novel by Claire Christian
3.0
just finished the ebook of this one and i think it's highly highly overrated. the main character Noni Blake is going on a self discovery to Europe but turns out it was more about the number of people she's had sex with. like, she's having sex in almost every chapter. i felt completely put off by that. her meetings with strangers on her journey were so unbelievable and not at all realistic. this book does have a pretty cover and at times Noni was funny as hell but i felt like i've been reading some *thingy* diary lol. this was just too much
City of Ghosts by V.E. Schwab
3.0
i enjoyed this book. although it wasn't my fav by V. E. Schwab, but i still liked it.
i loved the idea of in-between worlds & that Cassidy is able to cross between the living and the dead, see ghosts & even has one as a best friend. (i love Jacob, he's a complete mood when it comes to paranormal things - he's a chicken lol, scared shitless just as i would be)
what i disliked in this book, was the too simple writing style, it was plain & not elaborated. if that makes sense ?? i didn't really connect w the other characters apart from Jacob, i just wasn't feeling them & didn't care about them.
the whole plot could've been stronger imo, more detailed, i felt like i've got only the surface of the story when i could of gotten the deep oceans with that kind of idea :/
anyway, i really really hope the 2nd book Tunnel of Bones is better cuz it's rated higher than this one !! x

Emma by Jane Austen
3.0
this was such a warm read.
i loved how the author presented all the characters so differently, all of them having their own faults, beliefs and opinions about everything that's going on around them.
i completely fell in love with Emma as a character. her way of making mistakes & learning from them really amused me. her match maker's proffesion really didn't work out lol. i'm glad at the end she managed to learn from it all and realising that it's best to just let things flow to their own accord. also, this book is a PERFECT explanation as to why u ought to never say never ;)
i loved all the drama happening in general. i'm a sucker for drama so that ain't news to me π€·ββοΈ
also, Miss Bates is so annoying ??? same w Mrs Elton ??? the author managed to portrait unlikable characters so well !! also, imo, Mr Woodhouse was a bit full of himself always mentioning that Miss Taylor & Isabella are poor just bc they're married & live farther away with their husbands. kinda selfish to me tbf :/
although it was a warm to my heart read, it still didn't live up to be 5-4 stars read. i do recommend reading this to whoever wants to get into classics or whoever only wants an easy read :) xx
