• vivid imaginary (winter snow vibe the warm drink and sweet turkish delight and the white witch. Love it) • Quick read! • world building is not too complex to follow • The language seem very for middle grade. As a young adult, I can still engaged with first half of the book.
Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

3.5⭐️ "I don't know, maybe. More like, desks and vases probably don't get hurt, " Kojima said."Even when they're broken" "People are different, though" she said "Sometimes you can't see the scars."But there's a lot of pain, I think"

TW: *Bullying/Abused*
This book has painfully detailed description about bullying in school by nameless protagonist. It depicts his invisible pain (at first) and how he makes friends with Kojima, the other girl who was bullied by a classmate as well. It all started from a letter from Kojima.
'We should be friend'
Thoughts: The opening was good and hold my attention enough. But Honestly, I like the first half more than the second half. I found that the second half didn't go the way I hoped to see. Some details are still on the surface level for me.
While the bullying scene's description is rather intense. I feel along with him.
I personally found that the ending was slightly disappointing. But good thing is...I like some conversation between Kojima and the narrator. It was interesting. How they wondered 'why they are victims?' / 'how pain of human different from scratched objects'. Sometimes,We feel pain but pain doesn't show outside our body.
However, I still hope to read Mieko Kawakami's other work in the future.
Trailer of this soon-to-be animation is done very beautifully. That's why I picked its manga.
The story depicts the main character who has trauma and lost self esteem due to years of abuse by her family. She was compared with her younger sister and blamed for the fact she has 'no magic ability power'.But then she was forced to marry a stranger. She realizes new life outside her own house is better. It's a match between 'sad woman' and 'Cold-heart man' (but deeply he's kind. Trust me)
He tried to bring her out from the past. So many scenes I couldn't help but smile.it's quick read. But I still think it has a good pace.
If you are interested in a character that takes some progress to heal and learn to love themself again. Then this historical manga might work for you. Both light hearts and sad moments mixes very well. Ps.I admire that it's not only romance or drama but it also contains fantasy and a bit of a mysterious aspect in this manga as well.
