Reading a creepy, mediocre, moody paperback curled up on the couch during a gloomy, cold evening in October. What more can a guy ask for?

Also it makes me laugh a little that he is consistently very good at writing build-ups and very bad at writing good endings. That final confrontation was so lame. But, shrug, you know what you're getting at least. And now that I'm approaching double digits of his books, I very much know what I'm getting. Can't complain much.

Fascinating concept to take a Biblical tale of miracle and twist it into horror. Waay too Christian for me to find it scary though. Listened thru Librivox.

Fun! Really enjoyed the concept of a 'cursed text', told through multiple stories that had their own twist on it. I didn't even realize I was getting into the Halloween spirit but I guess something in my mind knew. Listened thru Librivox.
Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself by Nedra Glover Tawwab

Useful for boundaries 101 in the first few chapters- and not much use for anything else. Not trauma-informed, tries to paint every situation as a problem of boundaries, oversimplistic and even naive (especially in the "Work" chapter). A glimpse of structural analysis but then back to Boundaries Are Everything.

Grady is actually pretty well written but otherwise I just can't imagine reading the entirety of this book. Just short of a slog. Stopped ab 70% of the way through.
