Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for free in exchange for my honest review.
I don’t know where to start with this book. I loved it. The representation of ethnicities and genders was very appreciated. Mystery with a hint of sci-fi and magic, chefs kiss. Every time i thought I’d had the killer figured out, something happened to change my thought process. All of the reveals left me shocked. I think I gasped or said “NO” more times in the last 1/3 of the book than I have in a very long time. The cast of characters was definitely a great mix of personalities as well. Dee’s determination and love for Grasshopper were some of my favorite parts of this story. One of my favorite reads of the year for sure

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Denver is a difficult to like protagonist but not because of xyr autism but because much of xyr self loathing and questioning resonates with much of what I don’t like about myself. Xyr wittiness and desire to save everyone was admirable. Ezra was great deuteragonist. I found issue with how quickly the relationship between the two of them moved but Ezra voicing those concerns as well made up for the fact. Outside of the characters this was a likable story mixed with a bit of peculiarity. The ending was wrapped up nicely without feeling too rush and made the story feel complete.
I received this ebook for free in exchange for an honest review. Grant is the protagonist we all need. Full of flaws and self hatred, matched by loved ones who wouldn’t take his self-loathing. The tiny nod to Beauty and the Beast was nicely done. The use of the “beast” both in a positive and negative light as well as tying so much of fate to the rose, but still an entirely new story. My one wish for the story would for there to have been more actual conversation between characters. So much of the change and growth was due to introspection. While important, the growth between characters was glossed over in that respect. Otherwise a great story.

I received this e-book for free via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Hiding Him was a quick and fun read for me. Cam and Finn made for a cute couple to get to know. I genuinely enjoyed their interactions as well as their little friend group. As always I wish there was more in depth and deeper connection between characters before the “L” bomb is dropped but nevertheless I enjoyed the moment it happened. I felt as if some of the deeper issues were swept over and not fully resolved. Even the adult getting involved later in the story felt very unsatisfying. Some of the descriptions felt very embellished and not genuine as well. Overall, I truly enjoyed reading this and would read more about these lovely characters in the future!
