The definition of an unreliable, narcissistic narrator and I LOVE it. Every new addition to the book is caused by the narrators utter lack of empathy and drive for some level of fame, even if it is infamy. But, there are a few scenes where you see glimpses of her humanity, and some parts that left me desperate to keep turning the pages they were so filled with primal desire. Not a super dark, hard read, but not a classicly cliche YA easy read either.

Will caution that this is not a book for the faint of heart when it comes to blood or gore in the slightest.

A great read if you are into cliche’s and trope-y books! A cute urban-fantasy sapphic queer novel. It’s all based around miscommunication/non-communication which can be fairly frustrating at times, but one of the best parts of the book is that Dugan at times breaks the 4th wall for Fallon (the narrator) to explain herself and build a bond between herself/her situation and the reader, A fairly typical (but albeit adorable) rom-com-ish read. Sometimes a but eye-roll worthy with the dramatics and miscommunication, but we all have our drama, Fallon’s entitled to hers (in which Dugan very much explains throughout the book). Overall, a very cute book and light read!

One of my all time favourite books. A perfect blend of action-adventure, fantasy, and a slight bit of romance. The world of magic Blake creates is so well thought out and developed that you can’t help but be immersed in it in the best way possible. Not a high-fantasy novel, more so a very believable world of magic that could exist in our own walls. The twists and turns had me reading through the night. Truly stunning!!

one of the absolute best books i’ve ever read, hands down. bought the sequel minutes after finishing this, and have not been disappointed. would entirely recommend for any fans of other-world fantasy, adventure, sapphic yearning, all that lovely jazz! also definitely has many good twists and turns that kept me up all night reading.

adored ruby, was not a huge fan of morgan to be honest. the novel was fairly trope-y (which was fantastic, to an extent) but the love-at-first-sight and miscommunication trope was a bit much at certain points. Overall, would not be on the top of my sapphic recommendations, but did not disappoint.
