Very very very strong debut !! The world building and the magic system were interesting and enticing, the characters were all fleshed out and endearing. I really liked the writing as well, and the plot was nicely made. I'm not sure i'm quite satisfied with the ending, and a specific change of mind that happened, but it's still a lovely book nonetheless!!! Loved how queernomative it was, that felt very refreshing.

Liked the concept, didn't like the writing, which felt very repetitive and basic

How privileged i feel to be able to read this. This was an extremely hard read, almost horrifying at times. It's awful to be reminded so harsly of what our people endured (and still endure) but this is also very necessary. However, this is a novel about hope, about fighting, about love in all its forms. This is such an important read, for each and every lesbian and for everyone honestly. It put in words feelings i've always had, and i'm immensely grateful i read it.

I wanted to like this so so so bad. The cover is STUNNING, the summary looked just like my cup of tea.... unfortunately it wasn't.
Everything happens way to fast, i know it's described as low stakes but damn were the stakes barely there. Sybil was absolutely the most annoying rich girlie ever, and Esme was just there to be autistic (which is very good, but it sucks that she was just there to love clocks and need a plan when she's a main character). Idk it just went too fast and i found myself not caring about the characters or the plot.

Emily Austin you legend. Anything she writes i will read.
I just want to know how she manages to create characters that are so relatable and make such funny yet devastating books.

Hate reading is my favourite thing on earth but god was this bad. Not even entertaining bad like the previous book, just plain bad. This book is so long for no reason since every major plot point is resolved in a few chapters top each time. Also so many thing oh so conveniently happens right when it's necessary to save everyone. Like
rhunn getting healing powers out of absolutely nowhere just so tharion wouldn't die?????
what the hell was that. Also congratulations to Ithan for being the most boring character Sarah J Maas ever wrote and i say that as a proud chaol hater. Even tower of dawn was more entertaining than his endless pov chapters. Talking about the chapters, the povs were all over the place and did not feel distinct at all.
To sum it up, i guess this is exactly what i expected aka a terrible conclusion to a terrible series.
