The magic in this book is VERY COOL but the way the women are written VERY BADLY. I could not finish this, even after 800 pages, it got too grating on my soul. Very disappointing and now looking for other authors to support that don't write such terrible, sexy, love-interest-only, perfect-in-the-unachievable-way women. Boo.

I had to take a moment after this book. Fantastic fiction woven into fascinating true history. Incredible characters, women written as they should be: whole, diverse, complex. Loved every page.
