If anyone is in the mood for a book with smut featuring a demon named Malachi who helps a woman named Joy fulfill her murderous quest (literally), then this book is for you 🥵
This was another book with demons and humans (I previously read That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon) that I had a good time with! I loved Joy and respected how she got her power back from the man who tried to take it from her. I couldn’t help but cheer her on out loud.
The sexual tension between her and Malachi was evident the first time they met and it only gets more intense. I did want to know more about him and the sect he came from but I still enjoyed what I read.
🔅TW: rape - this is the reason that Joy summons Malachi.

Wow, this book was a lot!! So many thoughts and emotions. I want to buy the physical copy so I can go through and highlight passages that spoke to me and to of course reread the book. I felt as though Aunt Tab was speaking to me on what I’ve been through and the journey I’m now seeking to go on. There are a few lessons to learn, things to unlearn, and things to take in the future.
One of the hardest parts in reading the book was examining my own feelings in certain chapters. And as hard as it was, I’m glad I did so. It’s sometimes difficult to sit with our feelings and emotions. To figure out where they come from and why they make us feel the way we do. This was a great read and I highly recommend reading the book while listening to the audiobook.

I really liked Bri as well as the relationship she had with her moms. It was a healthy and beautiful thing to see. I was also a fan of how we got to see her powers work and how her parents were accepting of her.
However, the pacing did put me off. It felt as though not much happened in the first half of the book, although I liked learning about Medea and Hectate. This all changed the last half which put me through the wringer but makes me excited for the 2nd book!
