Cajas de Cartón: The Circuit Spanish Edition by Francisco Jiménez

that ending was so nasty. the entire course of up and downs of this novel spends more time in the downs. the moments of Panchito's joy are glorious and gleam with the innocence of childhood, yet the dark moments are heavy with a knowledge beyond his years, knowledge of a kid forced to grow up too fast. panchito is an incredible narrator and brings to life the awful world through a child's eyes. fantastic <3

"he has never met a god who enjoyed their divinity less."
i ended this book in TEARS. i sobbed. because at the same time that circe begins her life, her truly alive life, she also begins her chances at death. but she doesn't mind because of the death she has wreaked on the world and because she has someone who loved her i need to lie down i need to lap oh lord
