All Charlotte Ryland wants to do is get good grades, make it through school alive and with friends, and have a good time (quietly, very quietly). All Charlie Ryland wants is Olympic gold. Can Charlotte keep her school friends from finding out she's a world champion gymnast? Can she keep up with her studies, her strict training schedule, keep her friends happy, and stay out of the spotlight until Olympic trials?

This standalone YA by Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson is a fun little romp. I thought with the Olympics coming up, this would be a nice palate cleanser after GRRM. It's not perfect - the dialogue is stilted (and at points way too politely adult), but the characterization is okay and the story is cute. It's not revolutionary or anything like that, but it was fun.

A sweet, simple book that makes me think about good times when dreams were still a thing. Not a lot of depth to this story, but that added a touch of innocence.

Buy it? Nope. But I had so much fun!

It was enjoyable read. Speaking of gymnastic and our main character was aiming for Olympic I can't help myself remembering how I used to watch gymnastic in Olympic because it's only time they show gymnastic competition on my tv screen at home lolz

I loved gymnastics as a kid. I was flexible and a little fearless the way kids are, and although I was never very good, I liked the world of gymnastics a lot. Now that I’m older, I’m less flexible and pretty much afraid of everything, but still love gymnastics. So when I saw this book on the shelf at my bookstore, I immediately had to purchase it.

This was a really fun, quick read, and I liked the view it gave me into the world of elite gymnastics. Truthfully though, I wish there had been more about gymnastics in the book. Although I really liked reading about Charlie’s home life and school life, and the struggle to balance those worlds with her gymnastics side of life, I guess what really drew me to the book was a desire to read about gymnastics.

Overall, if you’re looking for a fun summer read with a really cute romance, you can’t go wrong with this book! Recommended!
