This one has a lot more in common with the earlier books in the series than Anne of Ingleside, and I think the fact that it isn't technically meant to be about Anne makes her general absence from this book more tolerable. That being said, I miss her so so much. 😭😭😭

This was much more in line with what I expected from this entire series: a delightful blend of childhood antics within a tightly-woven community. The Blythe children befriend the Meredith children, the sons and daughters of the widowed reverend. The Meredith children run wild and free and more or less raise themselves, while the Blythe children help guide them and protect their family reputation.

I enjoyed this book, although it seems to me it was more about the Meredith children and overcoming adult stubbornness to allow for change and a happy ending than about Anne Shirley or her children. Oddly, I usually am annoyed when books use adult stubbornness as the vehicle for driving the conflict in a story. Not so much for this book, perhaps because it's mainly told through childhood events and the associated "little" dramas of life. This one was a good read.

This book was awful . I have the books on my E reader. I have only liked the first three ones.
