We are finally back with a true murder mystery and it feels so good.

This is an enjoyable addition to the series, while still suffering for the usual chronic flaws it has had from the beginning.

The plot centers around a revenge murder mystery, dino fossils, and a rift between Veronica and Stoker.

I enjoyed it, and i enjoy seeing Stokers brothers.

I continue to dislike the feminist themes and the modern day messaging, especially considering the historical setting. But overall i enjoy the series enough to continue it.

I started this book immediately after finishing book 7 and the flow worked well, with one blending nicely into the next. 3.5 stars for this one. None of the books have lived up to the first one in the series for me, but there were more interesting female characters in this one and I enjoyed the scenery. It is remarkable, though, how careless people in these novels are about where / how they have important conversations when they are so prone to eavesdropping themselves.
