Monotonous fables that lack thoughtful prose and vibrant messages. Uninspiring commonplace of virtue ethics. Redundant with demoralizing narration. Stoic and intrinsic in nature. Ventures within wisdom in a forthright manner. Subtly is placed sparingly. Illuminates a morality in humanity. Exhibits a crisp memory of studious curiosity. Recommended for those versed in morals and allegories.
"Evil exists on earth as a result of malice, which rejoices when others suffer undeservedly, and in its folly gleefully desires to harm itself as well."

I remember reading this as a kid, and upon re-reading it now, the morals of the story are even more applicable and sensible. The fables are cute, and educational without being boring. :]

While very readable, I didn't get much enjoyment from Aesop's Fables. Those of them with any particular relevance I had grown up with; but many others felt redundant.

More than anything it is enjoyable to read these little lessons of which we have heard the "morals of the story" all our lives. Some of them I read and think "Ah! So that is where the saying was born!" Some of them make you chuckle, some of them cause you to stop and think. Some of them question my own actions.

A breeze to read through in a single sitting or in many various ones, everyone should sit and read these fables at some point...perhaps as children and then again as adults. No ones knows everything! Even these little stories offer bits of thoughts and advice for the most experienced of souls.

This particular copy of the fables (B&N) is cool because it has so much other stuff to read in it besides just the fables as well as recommended further readings for those who just love to learn more about everything.

So many classics morality tales that have stuck in my memory from reading an illustrated version at age 6.

Finally read this collection (153 fables) and was surprised how many of the fables were mean spirited. Quite a few were just nonsensical and some were just dumb. Just a small number made me laugh or think about the meaning. I think what I'm saying is I wasn't too impressed and would wonder what young children would think of this style of writing.
