If you have never read the books but loved the movies, Serkis is the perfect narrator! My 14 yo and I enjoyed this thoroughly

The writing style can linger a bit too long on scenic scenes for my taste. This definitely messes with the pacing for me. However, the story itself is entertaining and there’s a reason the series has stood the test of time.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

How does a fantasy fan even begin to write a review for Lord of the Rings? It is one of my most beloved series of all time, and has had a huge impact on me as a lover and writer of fantasy. It's a beautiful and inspiring tale of courage, friendship, and so much more.

In The Fellowship of The Ring we follow the beginning of the journey of the ring-bearer. In this reread, I read it out loud to my younger brother, and I found that experiencing the book this way was wonderful. By slowly taking my time through the lengthy descriptions and world building, I found some absolutely lovely bits of writing I would have swept passed before. I was able to truly soak up the words, the world, and be immersed.

5 out of 5 stars, always.

A no brainer. Literary classic.

‘Here is the heart of Elvendom on earth,’ he said, ‘and here my heart dwells ever, unless there be a light beyond the dark roads that we still must tread, you and I. Come with me!’ And taking Frodo’s hand in his, he left the hill of Cerin Amroth and came there never again as living man.

‘The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.’

As beautiful as the first time <3

Amazing audiobook performance. Gorgeous detail of the world and adventure with some truly epic moments. If I were reading the physical book, I may have felt it was slow at times. But listening to Rob Inglis was a treat.
