i like the stories this author can create, i just don't think it works in a short-story format. the level of thought and detail in his sci-fi worlds would work better as complete stories. i enjoyed the earlier stories the most, but as i kept reading, i started enjoying them less. you were just dumped into a whole different world every 40ish mins and it was hard to grasp some of the characters and plot lines (especially the russian one).

Not every story hits, but the ones that do are just as thrilling and stomach-punching and hopeful as you expect from Liu Cixin. I love his beautiful alien brain.
