An artist and the daughter of Hollywood royalty proposes to fund a Scottish farmer’s, well, farm, in exchange for his green card. Romantic suspense with, honestly, a pretty mid plot twist. I did appreciate that they didn’t have to go through the “maybe we can sleep together” phase and skipped immediately to “ok, we can be serious.”

FMC (Allegra): 3.5 (the layers of her traumatic history were almost comical. Give the poor girl a break. Whatever happened with her art?)
MMC (Jared): 3 (he wasn’t tall enough to act like he did and he was a first rate asshole for half the book. He redeems himself, but his slootish ways were not hot)
💕: 3.5 (they definitely vibed but they also didn’t come to any consensus together about the future of their relationship and their fears of abandonment - “words weren’t needed” - okay, Jan)
Plot: 2.25 (I love a good marriage of convenience with high angst, and even the farm drama was kind of interesting, but her having a hit out on her from some random off-page pedophile was not it. Especially since it was introduced and resolved IN THE EPILOGUE)

Beautiful story!! Obsessed with this series of books, their setting, characters, and the touch of suspense. Samantha Young can seriously do no wrong. I love the pacing of her books as I am never bored, every word is engaging. Even when the characters got together 3/4 through the book, she managed to keep my interest as a reader. Executed to perfection!! And the audiobook’s male narrator was absolutely delicious to listen to.
